What is Camp Wright Around the Globe?
Camp Wright Around the Globe is a new program for the summer of 2006. The program is designed to help our international staff have truly fantastic summers while they are in the United States. CWATG will pair international staff members (ISMs) with volunteer families, youth groups, and individuals who can host the ISMs or host events for ISMs during their days off over the course of the summer.

How does Camp Wright find international staff members?
Camp Wright works with a few organizations who handle placements for international young people who wish to work at camps in the United States. Most of our ISMs come from the YMCA International Camp Counselor Program. The ICCP candidates must complete applications, interviews and be accepted to the program. We have had international staff from all over Europe, South America, Africa, Asia and even Australia.

Who can help?
Anyone! Camp Wright will be willing to work with anyone who is interested in working with us on this initiative. We have set up portions of this website for Host Families and Individuals, Youth Groups, Financial Contributors, and even a place for those unsure of how they can help with this important initiative. If you don’t find what you’re looking for on this site, please call Julia in the camp office, (410) 643-4171, for more information.

Why is Camp Wright Around the Globe important?
We have always been very focused on the success of our international staff. However, in recent years, the international staff has grown significantly, During the summer of 2005, we hosted thirteen international staff people! Because the number of ISMs continues to grow, we need help to make sure they get out to see our area and have a full and meaningful United States experience. The ICCP administration suggests organizing hosts and short homestays for ISMs in order to broaden their support system as they experience the culture shock and excitement that comes with international travel. In the past, the number of ISMs was small enough that this type of program was not necessary, however, CW is growing and so is our international staff! We want to make sure that each ISM working at Camp Wright has the best experience possible.

I can’t volunteer for the whole summer, can I still be involved?
YES! Several friends of Camp Wright host picnics, boat rides and other fun activities for CW staff throughout the summer. All you need is a desire to be a part of the CW summer!
