Become a Camp Wright Around the Globe Booster!
Camp Wright has been blessed with an extremely talented, energetic staff since our first summer in 1930. One consistent element of this exceptional staff has been the participation of young adults from countries across the globe. In the 1970s and 1980s the staff included young adults from our sister diocese in the Caribbean. During the summer of 1993, Camp Wright began a partnership with the YMCA’s International Camp counselor program, which has brought us staff people from over thirty countries worldwide. The international staff, along with our domestic staff, has done great things for children over the years. Next summer, we’re hoping to do something great for our international staff. The Camp Wright Around the Globe Initiative is the next big thing in summer camping. We are looking for support and volunteers to help us get this program off the ground; one way you can help is by becoming a CWATG Booster!

What is a Camp Wright Around the Globe Booster?
A CWATG Booster is a family or individual that volunteers to host an ISM during their American summer. The Booster will plan activities, pick up the ISM at camp, have a ton of fun and bring the ISM back for the beginning of the next camp session. The ISM will not live at the booster's home during the entire summer-- just during breaks or time off from camp. Being a booster is not a financial commitment—it is a commitment of time, energy and ideas.

How does being a Booster help the ISM?
One of the best ways to avoid homesickness is to stay busy! Boosters will play a big role in keeping ISMs active during their breaks from camp. Also, the best way to see a country is with a person who is familiar with it! As a CWATG booster, you will serve as an American ambassador to a young adult who is eager to learn about our country.

What are the benefits of being a Camp Wright Around the Globe Booster?
Some of the perks of being a booster include a broadened cultural perspective, friendship, firsthand knowledge of another culture and the opportunity to rediscover parts of your own country! Also, everyone who contributes to the Camp Wright Around the Globe Initiative will be invited to an end of summer thank you picnic and receive a t-shirt as a token of our appreciation.

What types of things will we do with our ISM?
  • Go sightseeing in D.C. or Philadelphia
  • Go to the beach
  • Have a traditional summertime cook out
  • Go to the movies
  • Let him or her do laundry and watch T.V.
  • Go hiking or bike riding
  • Talk about culture and traditions
  • Go shopping
  • Share family traditions, personal hobbies and have a great time
