Spiritual Life at Camp
Each day we start and end with song, stories, reflection and prayer to help us learn to live and care for each other and the world God created around us. Serendipity Class is a time of learning about God. Through stories, games, music or art we try to grow in our ability to love our neighbor as our self as Jesus taught. A communion service at the end of the week celebrates God's presence and work among us.

Camper Health, Safety and Behavior
Camp Wright is inspected and licensed by the State of Maryland. The kitchen and pool areas are inspected and licensed by our county health department. During each session, a licensed nurse is on duty at camp. A local physician and hospitals in Easton and Annapolis are available for emergencies and urgent medical care. Campers are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that is conducive to our programming. Behavior deemed dangerous, inappropriate, or unmanageable by the Associate Director is grounds for dismissal from camp. Parents will be contacted as needed.

American Camping Association

In 1994, Camp Wright was accredited by the American Camping Association (ACA). The ACA is a private, non-profit educational organization serving the camping profession. It seeks to enhance quality and develop professional practices in the industry. Accreditation is an educational; process of self examination and peer review. Camp owners/operators agree to uphold a stringent code of camp management practices. At least once every three years, a team of camping professionals visit the program to observe the camp operation and review its practices with the standards of the industry. We are proud to be active participants in the program, and to have our safety standards meet or exceed the ACA regulations.

About the Associate Director
Raised in the Diocese of Easton at St. Alban's Parish in Salisbury, Julia Connelly first attended Camp Wright in 1989 as a camper. She joined the Camp Wright staff in 1999 and worked as a counselor for several summers during high school and college. Julia earned a bachelor's degree in English and Secondary Education from Towson University in 2003. Before joining the year round camp staff, Julia spent a year-and-a-half as an English teacher at Bel Air High School in Bel Air, Maryland.

Summer Staff
The counseling and program staff is made up of college age and older adults (a few high school students assist as Jr. Counselors). Each staff person is interviewed, screened, and selected by the program director. Staff are hired on the basis of their character, their ability to share their faith and teach all our camp skills, their love of the outdoors, and their commitment to helping children.  The staff bring many specialized skills and experiences to camp. Trained and certified lifeguards supervise water activities. Canoeing, sailing and archery instructors have special training and certifications in order to teach at camp. Many staff are also certified in first aid and most are CPR certified. At least two staff stay in each cabin. The dedication of our staff to our program can been seen in our high return rates, nearly half (if not a larger percentage) of our staff have returned in recent years. The staff participate and help lead an intense, comprehensive and fun seven-day staff training prior to the first camp session. If you or someone you know is interested in joining the Camp Wright Summer Staff, contact us for an application.

Facilities
During the summer, campers and staff live in three-season cabins. They are rustic cabins with bunk beds and no electricity. These cabins are also used for overnight rental groups in the spring and fall. Bathroom facilities are located in bathhouses, which are separate from the sleeping cabins. Our dining hall and arts & crafts building are heated and can be used as meeting space for conference groups. The dining hall contains a fireplace for smaller group gatherings and two screened porch areas with a breathtaking view of the Chesapeake Bay. Outdoor facilities include tennis courts, softball field, basketball court, sand volleyball court, and ample field space for other activities.

Financial Assistance
Scholarships are available to campers who may need financial assistance. Most scholarships are arranged through a camper's church parish, however, some assistance is available directly through Camp Wright. For more information, or to request a scholarship form, contact the Registrar.
