Live Together in a Christian Way |
|
"Learning to live together in a Christian way" is the
motto of Camp Wright. Since 1930, Camp Wright has provided young people
challenging and fun outdoor experiences in a Christian setting. Camp
Wright offers many overnight opportunities for campers who have
completed grades 1-11.
Resident Camp: Campers spend a
session, usually about a week, living in cabin groups and participating
in a variety of camp activities including archery, sailing, canoeing,
arts & crafts, drama, dance, Serendipity (Christian Education), and
much more. Appropriate for campers age 7-14.
Specialty Camps: Similar to Resident
Camp while focusing on specific specialty areas including drama and
nature. Appropriate for campers age 8-14.
Senior High Leadership: Experience is the best teacher in
the camping and outdoor education fields. This session will stay in
that tradition to provide a challenging and fun session for young
adults wanting to develop their leadership skills, grow spiritually and
enjoy Camp Wright. Appropriate for

| Junior Camp: For
campers who have completed grades 1-5 |
| The summer begins with this
session for our younger campers. This is a great camp for the first
time camper or a veteran camper who wants a shorter week of camp. The
session is a good introduction to Camp Wright activities. The younger
campers can choose boating in carefully supervised settings. Older
campers can take beginning sailing or canoeing. A variety of daily
activities including pool games, arts and crafts, nature and sports are
offered each day. In the evenings we have large group events such as
campfires, Wacky Olympics, The Carnival and Gold Rush. We swim every
day, weather permitting, in our pool. This session is not a blue and
white team week. |
| |
| One Week
Sessions: For campers who are 7-14 years old |
 |
These
sessions provide a week of fun and friendship in a positive and
encouraging Christian community. Campers sleep in rustic bay-front or
wooded cabins, which house 8-10 campers and at least two counselors. A
variety of activities are offered each morning and afternoon in three
age groupings. We offer sailing, canoeing/kayaking, and intro to
boating for water activities. Sport programs usually include tennis,
soccer, volleyball, basketball, softball, and lacrosse. Arts &
crafts, newspaper, pool games, free-swim, drama, dance and nature make
up some of our other activities. International staff members offer
various introductory language and culture classes. The Blue vs. White
team competition, a longstanding Camp Wright tradition, involves
several team games that we use to encourage teamwork. The week ends
with an affirmation banquet and session ending dance party. You are
invited to join us the morning of check out for a Camp Wright worship
service full of reflection and song. See 'A typical Day at Camp Wright'
for further explanation of daily activities. |

| Christmas
Session: For campers who are 9-14 years old |
| This is the longest session we
offer, and historically it's been our most popular. Campers have a full
ten days to enjoy life at Camp Wright. This session provides all the
fun of our weeklong sessions along with extra time to develop
friendships and learn new skills on the shores of the Chesapeake. One
of the highlights of this session is the celebration of "Christmas in
July" on the 25th. We use a Christmas theme to guide our celebration
and large group activities for much of the session. |
| |
| Senior Session: For
campers who have completed grades 6-8 |
| Our "Grand Finale" week is for
our older campers. The program is tailored to fit the current needs and
interests of senior campers, and our theme centers on communication and
trust. Small group events focus on developing skills in friendship and
communication with peers, family and God. A variety of camp activity
periods are offered, such as sailing, sports, arts & crafts, etc.
The schedule is modified slightly from regular sessions for our small
group and free-time activities. There are some Blue vs. White team
events. Truly a great way to end the summer! |
